Meeting locations will be announced closer to the meeting date. Public Comment Registration TBVME is aware of the proliferation of fake or fraudulent licensed veterinary technician certificates. We encourage employers and the public to look up licensees using our licensee lookup tool or call our office to confirm licensure status. TBVME HISSA GUIDANCE: TBVME has been made aware of conflicts between the new federal horse racing laws, known as HISSA, and the TBVME Rules of Professional Conduct. In such instances, federal law preempts state law and rules. While TBVME is complaint driven and is statutorily required to investigate all complaints that are received by the agency, TBVME is aware of the conflict and will dispose of complaints where HISSA is involved accordingly. In preparation for the move – the office will began packing for the move July 7th through July 8th. The physical move takes place on July 12th. Unpacking and set up will take place July 13th – 15th. We anticipate to be fully operational July 18th.Reinstatement of Continuing Education Requirements January 1, 2022 The COVID 19 related Continuing Education waiver for license renewals ended on January 1, 2022 . All renewals occurring on or after April 1, 2022 , will be required to have completed all required continuing education for the license renewal. New Licensee Self-Service Portal The new licensee self-service portal is active and now features the ability to submit New Applications for Licensure. Additional features available include the ability for licensees to create an account, verify information, and view certain licensee documents online. Additional modules will be released soon, which will include the ability to renew a license within the self-service portal and make any required payments to Board. You may access the self-service portal at: https://online.txveterinary.org This soft launch is designed to begin populating account information within the system and evaluating system performance outside of the test environment. House Bill 2174, 86th Texas Legislature, Mandatory electronic controlled substances (Schedules II through V) TBVME has received several calls relating to House Bill 2174, filed during the 86th Texas Legislative Session, which requires that electronic controlled substances (Schedules II through V) prescribing began on January 1, 2021. Veterinarians are exempt from the requirements of electronic controlled substances (Schedules II through V) prescribing. Information from DSHS: Relating to Veterinarians and COVID-19 Vaccine According to the guidelines issued by the Department of State Health Services, veterinarians and their employees are not considered front-line healthcare workers and may not be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine under this eligibility. Questions about vaccine eligibility should be directed to either the Department of State Health Services or your local health authority. Information on S.B. 1947 relating to Opioid & Controlled Substance Education S.B. 1947 , passed in the 86th legislative session, requires veterinarians to obtain 2 hours of continuing education related to opioid abuse and controlled substance diversion, inventory, and security every two years to renew a license to practice veterinary medicine. ** UPDATE** - A licensee is required to complete this training beginning on September 1, 2020 .
